How are we affected by Solar and Lunar Eclipses?
The dragon, head and tail, are common concepts in China, where dragon figures are commonly seen and sold. What was the origin of this concept? Indian Vedic Texts tell about the Rahu and Ketu, the dragon head and tail, and how they are responsible for the Solar and Lunar Eclipses. There are deep histories of their origin. But to make a long story short, negative energy is present during the eclipses, and India people come together to chant, and perform meditation, to counteract the bad influence of this Dragon. It is not considered auspicious to see or look at an eclipse. In the temples, where usually they store water pots, these water pots are emptied so not to attract and absorb the negative energy from the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu.
In the Gaudiya Math Temple, devotees gather together to Chant the Maha Mantra with large cymbols, and traditional clay drums, to ward off the influence., thus ensuring the positive presence of the Sattva Guna. Lord Caitanya, an avatara of Lord Krsna, was born during an eclipse, and thousands of people were gathered in the river Ganges, all chanting the Maha Mantra. It is said Lord Caitanya was born at that time specifically because He was destined to counteract the evil influences of the Age of Kali, namely of Rahu and Ketu, the dragon head and tail.
For those of us, who wish to improve the destiny of ourselves and the earth planet, can also take advantage of any Solar and Lunar eclipse, for group meditation, and prayer, or chanting. Strength of numbers, can heal the planet, of negative energy. We would be part of a mind set of millions of people concentrating our energy together, giving positive vibrations, which especially during any eclipse would surely help the planet................Any stories out there about eclipses? p.dasi
