This is the latest buzz word on the lips of every health-conscious person for the past decade. This is quite appropriate, considering that every morsel of food (even the organic varieties that are grown on non-organic cow droppings) that we eat contains hundreds, if not thousands, of different toxic chemicals.
It is also not surprising that people are buying anything that claims to have “detoxing” properties. The MLM industry has definitely capitalized on this enormous market with open arms.
To keep the explanation simple: our bodies have amazing capabilities to help us survive this onslaught of destructive chemicals. Our first defense, the liver (a toxin filter), will eliminate most of these unwanted quests the best it can; when it gets overwhelmed, it captures the invading toxic matters with fatty acids in our food sources and store them as fat. The more of these wrong types of food that we eat, the more our body encourages us to eat more fat, in order to help dispose of these poisons.
I can hear most of you gasp loudly with a light bulb lit up above your head. You finally understand the reason why you are not winning the FAT war.
You can try any product you like to “detox”, but unless you can eliminate these toxins out of your body, they will simply be recycled back into the fat layers thus play the game of “Catch 22”. There are only 4 ways toxins leave your body:
1. Breathing through your lungs
2. Urination through your kidneys and bladder
3. Waste through your colon
4. Sweating through your skin
A detox protocol that does not involve burning a measurable amount of toxic fat is, in my opinion, not a detox at all. A successful detox methodology should include breathing exercises (yoga, tai chi etc.), drinking lots of clean water (distilled is best), colon irrigation (colonic therapy) and sauna (wet or dry heat sauna).
