Heart Resonating Reads

There are a great number of books out there that have changed or validated the way I perceive things to be. Lets discuss what changes have been brought about by what 'resonated with your heart', so we may find the great ones we have missed till now.

Two books, both about being brave when times are tough: The Dance of Fear by Harriet Lerner, and Leaving the Saints by Martha Beck. These two ladies expose their most "shameful" feelings and stories, and help me consider the possibility of not being so consumed with shame and anxiety.

Finally we have the new copies of what was "Courageous Souls" now titled "Soul's Path"
This one gives the stories of some pretty intense life events & then has the person who's story it is, talk to their soul group about their plan. It gives an awesome overview of how we plan certain events in our life to steer us to where we wanted to go, whether it is by pointing us in a direction or by teaching us something we need when we get there. It is profound how, as you are reading through it, you start to see the people in your world differently, as you become aware of why they are a part of your life, and what contracts you have had with others that are no longer in your world. It gave me a whole new perspective on why. I have always tried to remain non-judgmental about others choices & let them choose where they were going & yes even allow my kids to fall flat on their face (hopefully without I told you so's)...not easyat the best of times but this book has given me a whole new understanding of why it is so important to accept people's choices, evn when they are not the one's I would make. This is on a big scale too....I have often used the greyhound bus affair as an example. My daughter knew Tim from working with him at Klondike days (victim) & I can't remember the other guys name (my sincerest apologies to him). This is a situation where there is no way i could have understood the dynamics prioro to reading this book..Both of these boys gave up their lives for the greater good-one literally the other to spend it in jail-the situation made the bus a safer place to ride-the drugs & weapons that were so freely being transported are not as easy to get through any more. All of the witnesses probably have questioned their lives & connected with their spirituality, I would assume just because how could you not, after something like this. In the end when they are both on the other side they will hug & say thank you- man that was hard but I couldn't have done it without you......
that is how profoundly this book has touched my life- I can look at things with detachment, and know that both of those boys, and all other people are right where they need to be at the moment they are there...
that is a powerful piece to be able to live with, and I do have to sometimes take a breath & remind myself that I can look at it from the positive point of view rather than getting caught up in the emotions I want to attach to it...and it helps keep me grounded when I do succeed in looking at the bigger picture, rather than getting caught in web of frustration & despair that these events tend to generate.
for those that can't find it, I will have a few with me at the calgary expo-I recommend it so often to people who are searching that I have started making sure they can find it easily.....

This is going to be fun! Handbook Of Chinese Horoscopes 6e by Theodora Lau
This book gives really complete descriptions of each sign, including elements, how your chinese horoscope works with your western one, what child signs are like...I had so much fun with it this afternoon looking up myself (Sheep Earth), reading all about myself, than looking up my husband, every member of family.
Some things fell into place, like why my husband and sister rub each other the wrong way (incompatible signs) and why I've been drawn to certain people (other Sheep Earths it turns out). I read it at the library but now I want to buy it so I can keep looking up everyone I know as I learn their birthdays!

Iwanted a place to share what I think about some of the great books I have read lately-also hope that others will share what they have read. Some of the books that created profound changesin me are older-some that i have recently read have been around for awhile & I can't believe I hadn't found them before now-of course spirit kept them hidden on me-but because I love to read I though this would help me sortthat which will resonate with my heart from that which I am not ready for yet. Besides i really dislike shopping, so I like to go in with an idea of what I am looking for, so I am not hearing all the little 'pick me' voices that bombard me as i walk around gaulking at things.
I had been searching for the past couple years for the book 'Das Energi" by Paul Williams. It came out in 1973-I originally found it in 79-loved it. Wrote the whole thing out by hand before I leant to someone else to read, and over the years, between me & everyone else I knew moving around, it got lost. But my dear sweet aunt tracked it down on amazon for me...and I love it just as much today. This book has probably had the absolute greatsest impact on my life in every arena. The very first line in it is "The only sin is self-hatred......" What could possibly simpler than that? it goes on with
"It is the act of negation.
It is the opposite of faith.
There is no such thing as evil.
The concept of evil is a crutch.
We will not heal until we toss away the crutch.
To heal is to become healthier.
To become healthier is to enjoy a freer flow of energy.
It is the flow of energy that gets us high."

end of first paragraph on page one. there are two on that page & the second is even more profound.

This book is written in the poetry style of page layout, some pages haves a single sentence, others are full. The are only 150 pages that will continue turning as you sit, thinking only one more-so make sure you have a couple hours to spend when you sit with this one. Interruptions will be annoying while on this life changing; attitude rearranging journey. This will be a couple well spent hours (that's all it takes to read the whole book) for anyone who wants to fast track their perceptions to higher levels. It will take longer to find & get the book than to read it. Let me know if anyone else has read it & what you think/thought about it....
I have only had my brand new one for 3 weeks & already it has become like a comfortable pair of well worn shoes, again. I use quotes from this book on a daily basis, as will everyone else who is teaching others how to heal themselves.
