The Body Soul & Spirit Expo

Here are some quotes that really struck home for me from two of my favourite poets.

Rumi

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

“When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you're not here, I can't go to sleep.

Praise God for those two insomnias!
And the difference between them.”

“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.”

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.”

“Oh soul,
you worry too much.
You have seen your own strength.
You have seen your own beauty.
You have seen your golden wings.
Of anything less,
why do you worry?
You are in truth
the soul, of the soul, of the soul.”

“Only from the heart Can you touch the sky.”

“Don't grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.”

“Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy, absent-minded. Someone sober will worry about events going badly. Let the lover be.”

“Every tree and plant in the meadow seemed to be dancing, those which average eyes would see as fixed and still”

“We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust”

“Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.”

“In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest,
where no one sees you.”

“One day You will take my heart completely and make it more fiery than a dragon. Your eyelashes will write on my heart the poem that could never come from the pen of a poet.”

Walt Whitman

“Sail Forth- Steer for the deep waters only. Reckless O soul, exploring. I with thee and thou with me. For we are bound where mariner has not yet dared go. And we will risk the ship, ourselves, and all.”

“I cannot be awake for nothing looks to me as it did before, Or else I am awake for the first time, and all before has been a mean sleep.”

“Let your soul stand cool and composed before a million universes.”

“Not I - not anyone else, can travel that road for you, / You must travel it for yourself.”

“Oh while I live, to be the ruler of life, not a slave, to meet life as a powerful conqueror, and nothing exterior to me will ever take command of me.”

“O public road, I say back I am not afraid to leave you, yet I love you, you express me better than I can express myself.”

“Have you heard that it was good to gain the day? I also say it is good to fall, battles are lost in the same spirit in which they are won”

“Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.”

“And your very flesh shall be a great poem.”

“The future is no more uncertain than the present”

“Do I contradict myself?
Very well then
I contradict myself
I am large, I contain multitudes.”

“I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars.”

“When I give I give myself.”

“Every moment of light and dark is a miracle.”

“Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?”

“I celebrate myself, and sing myself.”

“We convince by our presence.”

“Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?”

probably something to do with the tags, anyways I didn't mean to put that in the middle, it was intended as an afterthought

``Courage is not the absence if fear. Rather it is the judgment that something is more important than fear.``

``The living self has one purpose only: to come into its own fullness of being, as a tree comes into full blossom, or a bird into spring beauty, or a tiger into lustre."

Say not "I have found the truth" but rather "I have found A truth". Say not, "I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, "I have met the soul walking upon my path."

Yes, there is a Nirvanah; it is leading your sheep to a green pasture, and in putting your child to sleep, and in writing the last line of your poem.
