Can Astrology be used in Healing?

Yes, it can!

An expert Astrologer, can charter the waters of your horoscope, and pin point, when and at what time, you will be prone to a particular type of disease. This knowledge then acquired, one was referred to an expert bonafide Ayurvedic doctor, who then administered the proper cleansing programs, diet, herbs, excersize, and mantra's necessary for the individual's healing. For spiritual healing, Astrology can guide you to which path of yoga, and what kind of Guru suites your spiritual level. These sciences are thousands and thousands of years old, and India is well known for it's mecca of mystical and ancient wisdom and sciences that have been kept in tact and preserved by disciplic succession........

A wise but anonymous person once said, “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” Nowhere is this more evident than in the study and practice of medical astrology.

Counseling a client on what guru to seek, what yoga to practice, what mantra to chant, what exercises to perform, what cleansing diet to follow, what herbs to drink – no problem.

Counseling a client on what disease may afflict them, or what medicine or operation may cure them – big problem.

Astrologers are not legally permitted to make diagnoses, unless they are already licensed physicians. Anyone who dares cross that line with clients risks a devastating lawsuit.

Medical astrology is complex. It involves interpreting no less than four different charts – the main birth chart, the 6th (Shastamsha), the 8th (Ashtamsha) and the 27th (Saptavimshamsha) harmonic charts. And that is just one school of thought. Other practitioners may advocate another two harmonic (amsha) charts as well.

Having said all this, however, the study of medical astrology is indeed fascinating. Trouble is, like any specialty practice, whether it is using astrology to bet on the horses, or speculate on the stock market, one is best advised to first acquire, for example, some expertise in racetrack handicapping, or stock analysis, before getting in too far over our heads.

The astrologer should have a basic command of the main principles of ayurveda, by which he/she may seek corroboration in physical observation of the client. Still further, the astrologer should also use palmistry as yet another tool by which to confirm or deny what is seen in the chart.

Suffice to say, it is VERY complicated, and not typically a subject for beginning astrologers, unless they are already health-care professionals.

Namaste Alan Annand,,,,,,,,,,,,Your opening comment is absolutely true. I believe that Astrology like any Vedic Science must be learned from a seasoned expert. I personally was told by my Gurudeva, that only one who has been born in generations of Astrologers, and has practiced from the earliest age, carrying knowledge over from many lifetimes has the expertise to predict even the moment of death, and how. So for general purposes Astrology can be helpful by those new to the science, but there are those who are masters as well.............p.dasi.

Being able to read a chart for medical problems and, by implication, longevity is such a weighty responsibility that, even if a teacher had the capability, might still hesitate to share it with students who lack the maturity and/or experience to dispense such information to clients. Although my teacher taught many of us about medical astrology, he refused to do so with longevity, reasoning that most people would apply the techniques and/or interpret erroneously, scaring themselves and their acquaintances to (premature) death.
