- I am a 55 year-old German/Cree woman who loves to shower healing-love/love-healing to those who need it.
Writing is also another passion I love to indulge in as much as is possible. In addition to my published book (Beyond Life's Storms), I have written seven children's stories based on the Seven Sacred Teachings: Honesty, Courage, Respect, Truth, Love, Humility, and Wisdom. I'm currently in the process of refining them for publication. There is also a 300-page manuscript waiting to be published.

Beautiful Jewel
One of my most cherished intentions is to make my husband, Charles, as happy as I possibly can. I want to do this because he’s the most incredible man I’ve ever known. He’s loving, devoted, affectionate, inspiring and every other worthy adjective imaginable. Our relationship in recent years has been an amazing love story. My marital happiness continued to grow with the passage of each magical year. Only one small cloud tended to overshadow this happiness.
To see the love Charles has shown to children has not only been a joy to witness, but it has also caused me to feel a certain amount of regret, and even guilt. When we met, I’d been married before and had had five children, two girls and three boys, the youngest being eleven-years-old. He, on the other hand, had never married nor fathered any children. What I wanted, more than anything, was to be able to share with him a child. It was not to be. I could no longer conceive. For this reason, and because I loved him so, I offered to let him go, so he could go on and experience the blessed joy of biological fatherhood. He wouldn’t hear of it though. He simply replied, “It is you I want, not a baby.”
Even so, I knew he was missing out on something, and this became my personal cloud. Little did I realize that the Creator, fate, the universe, or whatever one’s belief may be, was about to sprinkle a diamond dusting over me and bring forth a BEAUTIFUL JEWELLED ray of sunshine to burst upon my life, our lives.
On the 16th of November, 2008, while Charles and I were out celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary, I received a phone call from my aunt in Winnipeg asking me to call Kayla, her granddaughter, in the same city. Following our conversation, I called Kayla and was surprised, no shocked, at her offer.
“I want you and Charles to take Sapphira. You both can give her a much better life than I ever can…. I’m still a teenager and I don’t feel ready to be a mother.”
After a lengthy conversation, I agreed to her proposition, still in a daze and still unsure of myself. When I discussed this with Charles, he became quite excited, and I knew I had no choice but to do this, for him and for the baby.
It just so happened we were going to Winnipeg for a two-day Health Care Conference on the 18th as Charles is on the Board of Directors of our local hospital. I, on the other hand, had several appointments to keep and would not be able to pick up the baby immediately like Kayla wanted.
Baby Sapphira Jewel, who was born on the 12th day of May, was six-months-old when we picked her up on the 19th of November at around 6 o’clock in the evening.
What a joy this bundle turned out to be! Sociable and filled with smiles, she stole our hearts on the spot. We’ve been on a roller coaster of greater joy, happiness, laughter, and crazy hectic lives.
Have we done the right thing? Have I? I am, after all 55-years-old. Beyond any shadow of a doubt, I KNOW we have.
Sapphira has blessed our lives in so many ways. She is sunshine. She is love. She is pure joy. And she is beautiful; a beautiful jewel. This is not all.
The numbers 16th, 19th, and 6 o’clock are also very meaningful to us, and we did not take note of them until about a week after we brought her home.
My late daughter Starr was killed at age 16 on the 19th of another month at around 6 o’clock. Moreover, Starr was also born in the month of May. She and the baby both have names that begin with the letter S. My birthstone is a sapphire Sapphira is Hebrew for sapphire).
Again. Did we make the right decision? Yes! Absolutely. This is for baby Sapphira. This, also, is for my beloved Charles.
I thank and honour Kayla for her loving and selfless act. She is a hero.

I think the universe decided that our world is not ready for them yet.
