Dear P.dasi
Now gone the chaitra navratri- the most auspicious nine spiritual days devoted to Ma Vaisno Devi who is shakti - means- goddess of valour and power. These nine days are meaningful for attaining moksha, bhakti, mantra sadhna or tantra sadhna depends upon the sadhaka - which type of sadhna wants to attain. For grihastha people means for normal family persons it creates cleansing of the SELF. Overall - everybody observes these nine days with full devotion.

Dear P. Dasi
Hare Krishna!
Hope to find you in high spirits! Good to find a devotee and follower of the Vedic path. It is true that during Eclipse the negative vibes are at their highest beam. Therefore it is suggested to put basil leaf [tulsi leaf] in every cooked or perishable food item.
Before the eclipse began one should take bath and meditate by lighting a lamp. [if you can recite then it is recommended to recite Aaditya hriduya stotra, sooryashtaka stotra or pray to Lord Sun].

After eclipse take bath and pray to the God you believe. Donate some flour etc. Avoid taking any food or water in the period of eclipse – this rule does not apply to weak people or to patients.

I am wearing mangal sutra in my photo. It is to be worn by married Hindu women. It is one of the sacred symbols for Hindu married women.
Rudraksha beads are meant to be the outcome of Lord Shiva’s tears. There are different Rudraksha used for different purpose. The mantra of wearing of rudraksha is also different for different faces of rudraksha. It is a sacred bead and generally increases vairaagya or spirituality.
Tulsi beads are dear to Lord Krishna. One has to be spiritual and away from all vices when wear tulsi beads. This includes avoiding non veg. food and alcohol etc. One should follow the teachings of Lord Krishna to get advantage of Tulsi beads. It is said that Tulsi beads increases devotion towards God.
Coral beads represents the planet Mars. It increases the vitality and vigour in a person. It increases the energy level and flow of blood. It is good for people who have low energy level or any blood related problem. [for that is suggested to analyze the birth chart to know whether it is suitable for a person?]

The Benefits of Chanting the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra

Art of Chanting Hare Krsna,

This book of Japa Meditation Techniques, written by Mahanidhi Swami, is a complete guide to mantra meditation.
Thought I would share some of the benefits one gets from chanting, from the various quotes in the book.

" kali-kale nama-rupa krsna-avatara

Translation:...."The holy name of Krsna, the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra, is Krsna's avatara in this age of Kali. The entire universe is delivered just… Continue

KARMA (what is it, how does it work?)

K A R M A...............A word used a lot these days, it has found it's way into the vocabulary of the western people. For everyone of us, life is full of up's and down's. Sometimes things go well, and we feel peaceful. At other times, life takes a turn, it shows us it's opposite side, making us feel frustrated, stressed, angry. Why?............because of KARMA.

If we can understand Karma, what it is and how it works, that knowledge can help us develop the tools, the qualities we need to be abl… Continue

Happiness, where and how to find it

...........................................HAPPINESS........................................That feeling everyone is looking for, but seldom finds in a lasting constant way. Fleeting happiness, which is felt by contact of our senses with sense objects, is a temporary happiness. Such happiness comes from, seeing something beautiful, eating something tasty, touching something pleasant, hearing something inspirational, and feeling loved or honored. This in ancient Vedic Culture is called the happin… Continue

January fresh start resolutions to uplift body , mind, and spirit

NEW YEAR 2009, AND NEW SPIRIT

As a river flows, till it reaches the sea, our desire for self improvement, is a constant flowing stream within us. Until we reach our full potential, we will still experience feelings, of being discontent, and not satisfied. Such negative feelings lead to the "Mode of Ignorance", or Tamas as it is called in the Ancient Vedic Texts of India. Tamas is a negative space created, by dark thoughts, and leads to laziness, disorganized thinking, lack of initiative, and la… Continue
