very interesting...my husband, Brajananda was one of the first brahmacari's at the 16th ave Temple, and he helped build the one in Burnaby. What memories they must be for you, from what I've heard, that was a very magical time for the lucky souls who were just young men and women back then, trying to fulfill Srila Prabhupada's mission. They are the pioneers! We all have it so easy now compared to them. Now we can buy veggie burgers at Superstore, and organic everything, and saris and bindies are so big now, yoga, and sanskrit are buzz words in 'O' magazine. Cool, thanks for sharing some of your epic saga, I know it's hard to put it all down for someone, since your spiritual journey is full of millions of nuances and "phases" of your life. Who can really understand except our Dear Lord! Jaya Radhe! T.

Greetings Bhakta Theresa! P. Dasi asked me the same thing so I have forwarded part of that to you as follows....

Back in the 70's when I was a young girl and my mom used to take me to the "Temple" (an old Victorian House) on 16th and Burrard in Vancouver, I remember it well because due to a life threatening crises the Hare Krishna's took me in and looked after me while my mom dealt with a bad situation. The Krishnas helped my mom and the only thing they ever asked was that she come to the feasts.
Many years later, when I was about 19 years old (and my mom had not attended due to her busy life at work and as a mother) I told her it was time for us to "repay" the favor and go to a Sunday feast. So willingly came and I brought a few friends. We went to the Burnaby Temple.
I have not looked back since.
The ISKON movement is ingrained in my heart and always will be.

Since then the story has continued but is too massive for me to write....
